Museums moving forward - together.

As integrated community institutions, museums must address and adapt to the demands of their local, national, and global communities. These range from equality, diversity, and accessibility, to the current economic situation, climate change, digitization, and shifting community demographics.

The AMA / WMA 2017 Annual Conference, UNITE, will focus on the ways museums can demonstrate courageous leadership, undertake controversial projects, and make a positive impact in their communities. How can we unite across sectors, across communities, and across borders to work towards innovative and inclusive solutions?

The AMA / WMA requested session proposals that address how we can work together to take action more efficiently, more effectively, and more powerfully.

This includes:

  • Unconventional  and innovative partnerships
  • Museums as agents of social change / social justice
  • Activism in museums
  • Diversity in exhibits, programming, and museum staff / boards
  • Museums as inclusive places
  • Environmental responsibility
