Certificate in Museums Studies
The Certificate in Museum Studies provides entry-level* museum
professionals with an understanding of current theories and
standards in museum practice.
The Format
Courses in the Certificate in Museum Studies build a foundation
in museum practices and standards and offer an opportunity to
network with peers. The courses are delivered throughout the
province in a two-day format, hosted by museums and other heritage
organizations.
Program Requirements
To obtain a Certificate in Museum Studies participants must
successfully complete assignments for all eight courses.
Participants have up to eight years to complete the program.
Transfer of Credit
Participants may apply for a transfer of credit for similar
coursework taken through equivalant programs. For information on
applying for a transfer of credit, please contact learning@museums.ab.ca.
*Entry-level means someone who does not yet have an
understanding of current theories and standards in museum practice
as codified in the Alberta Museums Association's Standard
Practices Handbook for Museums.
