About

Programming is the service a museum provides to the public to help interpret their collections from the visitor’s point of view. Participants will learn how to enhance the range of opportunities museums offer to their communities. Topics covered will include audience research, customer service, planning, and evaluation. July 7 – August 1, 2025 Combined asynchronous and synchronous, Online Instructors: Guest instructed by Candace Matelic with co-instructor Christine Moreland The required virtual meetings will take place on July 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. MDT. ** Please note that the FNMI spaces for our 2025 courses have been claimed. We encourage you to reach out for future CMS course opportunities. ** All participants are registered on a first-come, first-served basis when course registration opens. Spaces are limited, so register early! To obtain credit for the Certificate in Museum Studies, all participants will need to register in the CMS Program and pay all applicable fees associated with the Program application and textbook costs. Please note the registration fee for individual courses does not include a copy of the Standard Practices Handbook for Museums, 3rd Ed., the required textbook for the CMS Program. The textbook is included in the CMS Program application fee for students who choose to enrol for credit. The textbook can be purchased separately from the AMA Bookstore. Alternatively, many museums and libraries across Alberta have copies of the Standard Practices Handbook and may have it available to borrow for your class duration. For information about the CMS Program, please contact Karli Kendall, Program Lead at learning@museums.ab.ca or 780.424.2626.
