About
Museums are integral to society. Museums reflect the cultures they represent, and serve as foundations for collective memory, continuity, and development. Participants will explore how museums can examine and enhance their relationship with the communities they serve and create sustainable, accountable, and responsive museums. Topics will include community engagement, social responsibility, and sustainability within the museum context.
This self-paced, module-based, combined asynchronous and synchronous course will run on the AMA's virtual learning platform from February 26 to March 24, 2024. The course includes four required live, virtual meetings.
The required virtual meetings will take place on February 29, March 7, 14, and 21, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Please note that as of January 2024, Museums and Society is no longer a capstone course. Participants are no longer required to receive credit in all seven other courses before receiving credit in Museums and Society.
