Engaging Communities from a Distance

Community matters more than ever as the museum sector responds to the COVID-19 pandemic and the unprecedented impacts of this crisis. As trusted institutions at the heart of their communities, museums are uniquely positioned to bring people together in trying times. 

From running #MuseumsFromHome campaigns, to providing virtual exhibit tours, to delivering digital educational programming, and more, across the sector, museums are responding to these challenges by reaching out beyond the museum's walls to meet their communities where they are.

We want to highlight the initiatives that Alberta museums are using to adapt.

• How are you engaging with your visitors, members, and local community? What strategies or projects are you using to meet people at home?
• How are you moving your work, collections, exhibits, or programming into an online or virtual space?
• How are you staying connected with your colleagues, other museums, and the museum sector as a whole?

We will be sharing your stories, strategies, resources, and tools with the museum community on the AMA's Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) blog, Engage: Museums and Communities.
