Beginning
with the October 2025 Operational Staffing Grant Run, the Alberta
Museums Association (AMA) is piloting multi-year terms for Grants
Jurors. The AMA is currently seeking Individual Members to serve on
Grants Juries for terms of two and three years.
Each Grants Jury consists
of four individuals - three jurors and one alternate, with the role
of alternate rotating each year. The Jurors are responsible for
reviewing and
assessing the applications submitted to either the
Operational Staffing Grants or
the
Institutional Grants annually for the duration of their
term.
The time
commitment includes:
- Participation in virtual training and
orientation sessions
- Reviewing and assessing grant applications
digitally
- Participating in two to three, half-day
adjudication sessions virtually
- Institutional adjudication is held during the
second week of March
- Operational Staffing adjudication is held
during the third week of November
Jury members
will need to read and evaluate all applications for their grant run
via an online file-sharing platform, which requires a computer with
a reliable internet connection.
Interested
individuals must have an active Individual Membership with the AMA,
at least two years' experience in the museum field, and be familiar
with best practice standards in the current Standard
Practices Handbook for Museums.
Please see the following
documents for more information about being a Juror and to find out
how you can participate as a Juror.
If you are interested
in participating as a Grants Juror,
please submit a current resume and the
completed application form to grants@museums.ab.ca.
The deadline
to apply as Grants Juror is October 1.
Serving as a
Juror is an excellent opportunity to increase your familiarity with
the Grants Program, give back to your peers, and become more
involved with the AMA and with the greater Alberta museum
community.
