Grants Program
The AMA Grants Program provides funds to qualifying Individual
and Institutional Members through the financial support of the
Alberta Government.
Members must be in good standing by the grant deadline to be
eligible for funding. As all new members must be ratified by the
AMA Board of Directors, a process that takes a month, please apply for
membership with adequate time to ensure you are a full member
and eligible for grant application before the appropriate
deadline.

The AMA recently increased its Subsistence and Travel Allowance
Rates for Board, volunteer, and staff travel to account
for increasing costs. This increase is in recognition of the impact
of inflation on the museum sector. The new subsistence and travel
allowance rates are in effect for applications to the Grants
Program in the 2024 - 2025 granting year.
2024 - 2025 Grants Program Categories:
The Operational Staffing Grant provides funding to eligible
Institutional Members to build capacity by contributing to the
wages of core museum staff.
The Professional Development grant provides funding to eligible
Individual and Institutional Members as they undertake professional
and personal learning opportunities to increase the overall body of
knowledge of the Alberta museum community.
The Institutional grant provides funding to eligible
Institutional Members to complete projects in the following
sections: Museums and Society, Governance and Operations,
Collections, and Programming. The Partnership grant is also
available for a project involving two or more institutions. This
grant encourages applicants to undertake projects that directly
respond to needs identified by their communities and demonstrate
